Glen is a main character on Letterkenny, played by Jacob Tierney. In addition to playing Glen, Jacob Tierney is also a co-creator, writer, and director of Letterkenny.
Biography[]
At the start of the series, Glen is an evangelical Christian preacher, pastor of the Grace Fellowship Church (Rave) and director of the Burning Bush Youth Ministry (Super Soft Birthday). The show hints that he is gay on a number of occasions (most notably, in (In It To Win It)), with an ongoing joke being his comically over the top flamboyant mannerisms, religious sermons with underlying sexual overtones directed towards men & his frequently eating popsicles, suckers and other similar shaped foods in a very suggestable manner. Despite this his potential overt homosexuality is never outright mentioned. Glen's accent suggests he is originally from the American South, but his origin or early biography has not been explored.
Glen's devotion to his religion is genuine, but he sometimes struggles to inspire others in the faith. He attempted to counsel Reilly and Jonesy when they became disillusioned with hockey, but in the end was only mystified by them (Finding Stormy a Stud).
To make ends meet in Letterkenny, he takes side jobs "waitressing" at the Four Dancers Resto Bar east of town, as well as at the Super Scoops ice cream truck upcountry (Relationships). He "returns to waitressing" at MoDean's II when it opens, getting a makeover in the process so that Gail would have some "eye candy," and drawing the attention of Katy (MoDeans 2).
After several years, his denomination, the Church of Spiritual Humanism (formerly the Church of Spiritual Humanism Science (Never Work a Day in Your Life)), removes him from his role as pastor, citing budget cuts. He takes up street preaching in the parking lot of the dollar store to continue his ministry. He comes into conflict with the Skids, who want to use the parking lot to do rips on their bicycles, but they come to an agreement to share it. He achieves his dream of starring in a Passion play some time thereafter, with the assistance of the hockey players and the Skids (Super Hard Easter), and is eventually reinstated to his church; the Mennonites Noah and Anita Dyck seek him out there when searching for their daughters (Dyck's Slip Out).
Glen also becomes manager of Letterkenny's public access cable TV station, often manning the cameras himself (Crack N Ag). The Hicks pitch a call-in agricultural advice show featuring Wayne, Dan, and Daryl, which Glen agrees to produce, although not without considerable agitation with the talent. He still assists Gail from time to time at MoDean's, but is seen far less often than Bonnie McMurray. He has also been seen working at the Letterkenny Walk-in Clinic, dressed in a woman's nurse's uniform (Prostate).
Appearance[]
When preaching, he most commonly dresses in a light short-sleeve button-down shirt, a dark narrow tie, and slacks. When out bicycling in warm weather, he wears short shorts.
He wears glasses; although Gail arranged for him to get LASIK when he started working at MoDean's II (MoDeans 2), part of an overall makeover, the surgery "didn't take" and he reverts later on (The Letterkenny Leave).
Relationships[]
Wayne[]
Glen exhibits a strong attraction to Wayne, and often makes flirtatious comments to or about him. Wayne generally ignores these, although on occasion he has become impatient when Glen's antics are distracting or wasting time.
Reilly and Jonesy[]
When Reilly and Jonesy struggled with the transition to senior hockey and lost their sense of identity, he attempted to counsel them and bring them closer to God. They listened earnestly to him, but in the end, did not grow spiritually, and only mystified him (Finding Stormy a Stud).
While they have had relatively little interaction since, Glen did seek them out to participate in his Passion play, to play the role of Roman centurions. They enthusiastically agreed, although confusing Romans and Spartans, and accompanied him in the procession, dressed in their usual garb, but making "air whip" motions and shouting "whip sound!" as they marched.
