Wayne is a main character on Letterkenny. He is played by Jared Keeso.
Biography[]
Wayne is the de facto leader of the Hicks. He is a hard working farmer who loves his profession. He picks rocks, grows beans, shoots varmints, and runs a produce stand with pride. He lives at the farm with his younger sister Katy, and runs the farm with the assistance of close friends Daryl and Dan. Little is known about his and Katy's childhood, except that they were not allowed to have birthday parties, (Super Soft Birthday) and weren't allowed to watch TV.
Wayne is a serious, conservative man with a low tolerance for BS & disrespect. He speaks in a monotone voice regardless of the situation with a stereotypical rural Ontario accent. He carries himself stiffly, sporting an ever-present intense facial expression, keeping his shoulders and jaw firm and his eyes squinted. He rarely smiles or laughs, even when discussing light or humorous topics, which he nevertheless does frequently. He has a rigid sense of duty, even providing backup to the hockey players when they ask for his help, despite his personal dislike of them. (The Native Flu)
He tends to not judge or discriminate against even the more eccentric proclivities & will even ask questions, provided the person is not rude or disrespectful. That is always there to back up, or lend a hand to his fellow Letterkenny residents.
He currently holds the title of Toughest Guy In Letterkenny, and apparently likes to fight, though only when he or his friends are provoked or mistreated. Most of the single women who cross his path tend to express an interest in him, particularly Bonnie McMurray and Gail, whose feelings he does not return. Bonnie's brother McMurray is also in favor of getting his sister set up with Wayne. Glen also hints often that he has sexual interest in Wayne, as has Roald, though on rarer occasion.
Wayne smokes and drinks often. He doesn't particularly care for children and thinks most of them are are raised too gently. No one would call him warm, but his devotion to his friends and family is unquestioned, and his affection for dogs is evident. He has at least two, a large dog named Gus, and a German shepherd named Stormy, who he later breeds with Rosie's male German shepherd, Cito. (Finding Stormy a Stud) He is often seen holding Stormy's puppies during transitions and cold opens.
Appearance[]
Wayne usually wears a flannel shirt, blue jeans, and work boots; the shirt is always tucked in to his jeans, and he never wears a belt. In winter, he wears a black turtleneck under the flannel shirt with a dark snowmobile bib, and when sledding, a black and red HJC snowmobile jacket.

Katy[]
Katy is Wayne's younger sister, who he loves dearly. They get along well, and while Wayne is protective of her & not too thrilled with some of her life choices like her choice in men and clothing he never intervenes acknowledging that she is an adult that can make her own choices, in fact he becomes more enraged when men interested in her try to "go through him" or "reclaim her" instead of talking to her directly. He is also shown to ask her permission before acting on her behalf. He also respects her opinions and intelligence more than most people's. His only overt criticism is her choice in clothing often telling her to "put some clothes on" however after Katy's trademark response of "not my forte" he quickly gives up only responding with an exasperated "that's unfortunate".
Daryl[]
Daryl is Wayne's best friend. He refers to him exclusively by his nickname, Darry. Wayne routinely acknowledges Darry's shortcomings and social awkwardness, and they sometimes get into small squabbles, but they mostly get along and are almost always together. Daryl cares about Wayne, and Wayne's approval seems to be important to him. He allows Wayne and Katy to throw him "super-soft birthday parties" every year that are extremely festive and childlike, since Wayne and Katy's family tradition always prohibited them from making a big deal of their own birthdays.
Dan[]
Dan is Wayne's next-closest friend. Wayne often tells Dan to "take it down about twenty percent" when Dan seems to repeatedly and covertly express an interest in Wayne's sister Katy.
McMurray[]
Fellow farmer McMurray has a cordial but passing relationship with Wayne. Though McMurray has many principles in common with Wayne's crew (such as a love for Canada gooses (A Fuss at the Golf Course) and a disdain for degenerates (St. Perfect's Day)), and they often fight on the same side, McMurray's eccentricities are too strange for Wayne to handle; particularly his self-important ramblings at the Ag Hall (A Fuss at the Ag Hall) and elsewhere, and his polyamorous escapades. Reilly and Jonesy[]
Wayne is initially contemptuous of Reilly and Jonesy "because hockey players would grab a monkey by the tit if they could," (Ain't No Reason to Get Excited) confirmed when he overhears them planning to cheat on Katy with big city slams. (Super Soft Birthday) His disdain somewhat lessens after Katy breaks up with them, and he doesn't need to see them as much. He agrees to back them up against Tanis' crew, and they fight degenerates together on various occasions. They join the Hicks to back them up when they travel to Quebec for the bock et biche. Stewart[]
Wayne pays Stewart and the Skids little attention at the start of the series, ignoring their taunts. He is not pleased when Katy starts dating Stewart. Wayne eventually settles into tolerating Stewart, and accepts his help in producing a campaign video for his run at Ag Hall president. (The Election)
Angie[]
Wayne's high school girlfriend, whom he remained with for 5 years until she cheated on him. Angie is then mostly absent but makes several brief returns. She is coincidentally set up with Wayne by a matchmaker, and they sleep together. Angie then wants to begin a relationship with him again, but he declines. She then sleeps with most of the Letterkenny Irish hockey players, who all fight over her, until Reilly and Jonesy enlist Katy's help in warning her off; Katy takes the opportunity to stick up for her brother by kicking Angie in the crotch for cheating on him.
Tanis[]
Tanis and Wayne had a rocky start. Tanis retaliated against the town of Letterkenny for an infraction by the Skids, burning down Wayne's beloved produce stand, among other things. Wayne then banned Tanis and her crew from Letterkenny. (A Fuss in the Back Bush) He later lifts the ban in exchange for them leaving the hockey players alone, leading to them getting together (The Native Flu) and Tanis getting pregnant. (Finding Stormy a Stud) Tanis does not carry the pregnancy to term, saying she wasn't ready for a kid, (Sled Shack) but she continues to flirt with Wayne, even after he begins his relationship with Rosie. Wayne is tempted to cheat on Rosie, but instead breaks up with her, and he and Tanis then get together, though only briefly.
Marie-Fred[]
Wayne meets Marie-Fred at Anik's Bock et Biche, where he had come to help fend off degens. There is tension, however, as she is Jean-Claude's sister. (Bock et Biche)
They begin a long-distance relationship, trading off driving to each other's turf and each receiving some abuse from the locals. (What Could Be So Urgent?) As Daryl begins to date Anik, both become regulars at the farm and elsewhere around Letterkenny. But even as Anik and Daryl break up, Wayne secures a ring to offer to her. (Yew!)
Wayne and Marie-Fred appear to enjoy a happy engagement, though little wedding planning is seen. When Wayne accompanies Daryl on his ill-advised road trip to confront Anik, however, he finds Marie-Fred kissing another man. He is heartbroken and withdraws into seclusion in the sled shack. He emerges after over two months of binge-watching his favorite TV show, Miss Fire, which was the only show he had access to in his childhood.
Rosie[]
Rosie is Gail's cousin from Tobermory. She is introduced in Season 2 Episode 5, "Finding Stormy a Stud," when Gail calls her up to see if her dog Cito would be the stud for Wayne's dog Stormy. She become's Wayne's girlfriend from seasons 3 to 4, when she leaves for the city to help at a pitbull rescue (and when Wayne becomes interested in Tanis), and they continue dating when she returns in seasons 8 through 10. They break up again in the second to last episode of the series.
